Viral Terror by Neighbor Leads to Fence Damage in Depok; Police Intervene

Police in Depok, West Java, are investigating alleged terroristic acts committed by a neighbor against a resident, which included damaging the victim's fence. The disturbing incidents were captured on CCTV footage that has since gone viral on social media.

The victim filed a report with the Depok Metro Police on Wednesday, June 15, which was registered under LP/B/1531/VII/2026/SPKT/POLRES METRO DEPOK. Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit, Police Commissioner Made Gede Oka, confirmed that the police are actively investigating the report, focusing on the property damage.

According to police, the dispute between the neighbors started in 2024. Several mediation attempts by local community leaders, including neighborhood heads (RT) and community heads (RW), have reportedly taken place without resolution. The police have also previously attempted mediation through the Bhabinkamtibmas (community police officer) and the local police station.

Kasi Humas Polres Metro Depok, Inspector Hendra, stated that the conflict escalated when the victim allegedly uttered harsh words and played loud music due to the close proximity of their homes. In response to the latest report, police have visited the crime scene and interviewed five witnesses. A summons has been issued for the accused neighbor, who is scheduled to provide a statement on Monday, July 20.
