Two Malbatt 850-13 members lightly injured

Two members of the Malaysian Battalion (Malbatt) 850-13, serving in Lebanon, suffered minor injuries following an air strike near Haris on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 9:25 AM local time, about one kilometer west of the United Nations Position (UNP) 6-43 in the Tibnin area.

At the time of the attack, a Malbatt 850-13 logistics convoy was engaged in a routine resupply mission heading towards Tyre. The air strike caused two members to be hit by vehicle windshield fragments, resulting in light injuries. Additionally, two United Nations vehicles sustained external material damage.

As a result of the incident, two members were hit by vehicle windshield fragments and sustained minor injuries, while two United Nations vehicles sustained external material damage.

Following the incident, the Quick Response Force (QRF) of Malbatt 850-13, based at UNP 6-43, was activated. Medical teams and logistical elements were deployed to assist the affected personnel and manage the recovery of the damaged vehicles. A security assessment was conducted at the site, and the convoy's movement was reorganized to ensure a safe return to base.

Both injured soldiers received medical attention and are reported to be in stable condition, with no serious injuries or fatalities. Their next of kin have been informed. In response to the attack, Malbatt 850-13 will enhance its readiness levels and implement stricter procedures for convoy movements. This includes improving security situation monitoring and strengthening coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The Ministry of Defence and the Malaysian Armed Forces will continue to monitor the security situation in the operational area to ensure the highest level of preparedness for the peacekeeping mission in Lebanon.
