Two members of Brazil's Comando Vermelho arrested in Bolivia

Bolivian police have apprehended two individuals identified as members of the notorious Brazilian criminal organization Comando Vermelho in the municipality of San Ignacio de Velasco. The arrests were made as part of 'Operation Border Security,' an initiative aimed at curbing a wave of extreme violence along Bolivia's border with Brazil.

The operation resulted in the capture of a Bolivian national, Danner David O. M., 40, and a Brazilian national, André Aglas D. M., 28. Police reports indicate that during three separate interventions, authorities seized firearms, including two 9mm pistols, vehicles, cell phones, and a significant amount of cash totaling 13,900 Bolivian pesos. The Bolivian detainee was found in possession of two firearms and a motorcycle, while the Brazilian was apprehended with a 9mm pistol.

According to police, Danner David O. M. is suspected of involvement in recent violent incidents in San Ignacio de Velasco. André Aglas D. M. reportedly confessed to being a member of Comando Vermelho and admitted to participating in an armed confrontation on August 11 against a member of the rival Brazilian gang, the First Capital Command (PCC). He sustained injuries to his right hand during that encounter.

Authorities view the August 11 confrontation as a dispute between these two powerful Brazilian criminal organizations. Several individuals involved in the conflict are already detained in Palmasola prison under court orders, indicating a broader crackdown on organized crime in the region.
