The prefect of Morbihan announced that the two individuals were placed under guard after being potentially linked to multiple intentional blazes that occurred recently. In Vannes, one suspect was quickly identified and apprehended thanks to witness reports and the intervention of firefighters. A second man was arrested overnight in Larmor-Plage, reportedly found in close proximity to several fire outbreaks.

While the fires primarily affected undergrowth and were not deemed to be of major severity by the Morbihan Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis), the resulting smoke was visible from the Quiberon peninsula.
