Two Men Fined Up to $1,550 for Illegally Crossing Taiwan Railway Tracks

Railway police in Taiwan are investigating an incident captured on video showing two men illegally crossing the tracks at the TRA Tianzhong Station. The footage, uploaded to social media platform Threads, shows an elderly man walking across the railway line around 4:24 p.m. yesterday, with a younger man appearing shortly after to assist him. The act of crossing railway tracks is a violation of the Railway Act, and authorities are now seeking to identify the individuals involved. According to the Railway Police Bureau, if found guilty, the men could face fines ranging from NT$10,000 to NT$50,000 (approximately $310 to $1,550 USD). The bureau stated that while they had not received a formal report from the public or Taiwan Railways Administration, they would review surveillance footage to ascertain the identities and whereabouts of the men. Once identified, they will be summoned for questioning. The incident highlights the dangers of trespassing on railway property and the potential legal consequences for such actions.
