Two seriously injured in Čakovec shooting

A violent confrontation in Čakovec, Croatia, has left two men seriously injured after a shooting incident occurred in the early hours of July 4. The event unfolded in the parking lot of a local catering establishment, sending shockwaves through the community.

Eyewitness accounts suggest the altercation began inside a club, where a man allegedly brandished a knife. The dispute then spilled out into the parking lot, escalating into a brawl involving several individuals. The situation reached a critical point when the assailant reportedly drew a firearm.

According to witnesses cited by Međimurske novine, the attacker fired multiple shots from a pistol. One victim sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, while the other was hit in the abdomen. Both injured men were rushed to the hospital and are currently undergoing surgery.

Emergency services and police were immediately alerted by bystanders. Officials from the Međimurje police department confirmed that the injured individuals are in surgery and that a police investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances of the incident and identify all involved parties. The scene of the crime has been secured for forensic examination.
