Two Super Falcons players suspended for crucial Egypt clash

Nigeria's Super Falcons will be without two key players, defender Oluwatosin Demehin and midfielder Jennifer Echegini, for their crucial final Group C match against Egypt in the ongoing Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

Demehin received a straight red card in the 40th minute of Nigeria's 1-0 victory over Zambia for a foul on the Zambian captain. Echegini was shown a yellow card, her second of the tournament, triggering an automatic one-match suspension under Confederation of African Football (CAF) disciplinary regulations.

These suspensions come at a critical juncture for the Super Falcons, who are fighting to advance to the quarter-finals. After an opening 3-2 defeat to Malawi, Nigeria revived their title defense with a hard-fought win against Zambia, despite playing with 10 women for much of the match following Demehin's dismissal. Asisat Oshoala scored the lone goal in that game.

Nigeria and Zambia both have three points from two matches. Malawi leads the group with six points, while Egypt has yet to score. Qualification for the knockout stage will be decided in the final round of fixtures, making the absence of Demehin and Echegini a significant challenge for the nine-time African champions.
