Two suspects arrested for dog theft with homemade gun and electric shock device

Can Tho City, Vietnam – In a swift operation, police in Tan An Ward, Can Tho City, have apprehended two individuals suspected of a brazen dog-napping spree. The arrests, made early on April 18th, highlight the ongoing efforts by local authorities to combat property crime and ensure public safety in the region.

The suspects, identified as Nguyen Van Vu (33) and Pham Minh Hau (17), were intercepted by a patrol unit on Nguyen Van Linh street. Their suspicious behavior, particularly the large cloth bag they carried, prompted the officers to investigate. When signaled to stop, the pair attempted to flee, leading to a brief pursuit before they were apprehended.

The patrol team discovered two people riding a motorbike, carrying a large cloth bag with suspicious signs, so they signaled to stop the vehicle for inspection.

During the search, officers discovered a significant haul: 10 dogs, a homemade firearm, and an electric shock device. The suspects subsequently confessed to stealing the dogs from various locations within Can Tho City and were caught en route to sell their illicitly obtained goods. This incident, reported by Thanh Niên, underscores the resourcefulness of criminals and the importance of vigilant policing in maintaining order. The authorities are now working to identify any potential victims and ensure the recovered dogs are returned to their rightful owners, while the investigation into the suspects' full criminal activities continues.
