Two terrorists killed in intelligence operation in Balochistan’s Washuk, state media says

Two terrorists were killed and their vehicle destroyed during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Washuk district, according to state-run PTV, which cited security sources.

The operation took place in the Palantak area as part of Operation Radul Fitna, a continuing campaign against groups the Pakistani state calls Fitna al Hindustan. Pakistan uses that designation for Balochistan-based terrorist groups while highlighting what it describes as India’s role in terrorism and destabilization across the country.

PTV said the two men had been involved in attacks on the Mashkhel police station and the Customs House. Security forces also recovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition, the broadcaster said.

The operation followed the deaths of 11 terrorists in separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan the previous week. The latest action comes as a security assessment describes a sharp deterioration in Balochistan during July.

The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies said the province’s overall death toll rose from 109 in June to 372 in July, an increase of 241 percent. Security personnel deaths climbed from six to 62, while terrorist deaths rose from 75 to 238. Civilian deaths increased from 28 to 54, and 18 members of peace committees were also killed.
