Two Women Killed in Russian Drone Attack on Kharkiv Region Village

A Russian drone attack on the village of Lebiazhye in Ukraine's Kharkiv region has resulted in the deaths of two women, aged 66 and 73, and injured two others. The assault, which involved six drones, also caused significant damage to residential buildings, with three homes completely destroyed and five catching fire.

Olegh Synehubov, the military governor of the Kharkiv region, reported the casualties and damage via Telegram. The region has been a frequent target of intense Russian attacks since the full-scale invasion began over four years ago. This latest strike occurred just one day after a series of massive Russian assaults on Kyiv claimed the lives of 15 people.

In response to the escalating attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has once again urged Western partners to provide Patriot missile systems to help counter Russian aggression. Meanwhile, Ukraine has intensified its own drone attacks on Russian targets, including oil refineries, aiming to disrupt Moscow's war economy. Russia's air defense forces claim to have intercepted 107 out of 135 drones used by Russia in total, and 325 Ukrainian drones.

The attacks on Russian oil facilities have contributed to a fuel crisis within Russia, leading to shortages and rationing at gas stations. Russian President Vladimir Putin has acknowledged the challenges posed by these strikes but maintains that the situation remains under control.
