Two Youths Die in Rompin Road Accident Involving BMW SUV and Motorcycle

A tragic road accident in Rompin, Malaysia, claimed the lives of an 18-year-old driver and a 16-year-old motorcyclist early Friday morning. The collision occurred at Kilometer 151 of the Kuantan-Johor Bahru highway near Pantai 7, Tanjung Gemok.

The incident involved a BMW X5 SUV and a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle. According to Rompin District Police Chief, Superintendent Sharif Shai Sharif Mondoi, both vehicles were traveling in the same direction from Tanjung Gemok towards Kuala Rompin. Preliminary investigations suggest the BMW driver lost control and crashed into the back of the motorcycle.

Both the BMW driver, identified as Khor Ho An from Mersing, Johor, and the motorcyclist, Muhammad Darwish Fitri Ramli from Rompin, suffered severe injuries and were declared dead at the scene. Sharif added that neither victim possessed a valid driving license, compounding the tragedy.

The bodies have been sent to the Rompin Hospital Forensic Unit for post-mortem examinations. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
