Typhoon Saola Approaches Taiwan; Shei-Pa National Park Warns Hikers

Shei-Pa National Park in Taiwan is urging hikers and visitors to exercise caution as Typhoon Saola approaches the island. Park authorities are closely monitoring the storm's movement, which is heading northwest. They strongly recommend that hikers check the latest updates from the Central Weather Administration and consider canceling or retreating from their trips, especially for longer expeditions.

The park anticipates that the typhoon's circulation could significantly affect northern mountain areas. This may bring severe winds and torrential rainfall, increasing the risk of slippery trails, rockfalls, landslides, and flash floods in river valleys. These conditions pose a serious threat to the safety of those in the mountains.

For those planning visits to popular areas like Wuling, Guanshan, and Xuejian, the park advises staying informed about weather developments.
