Tyson Fury claims Anthony Joshua has backed out of British boxing showdown

Tyson Fury says Anthony Joshua has “got cold feet” over their planned British heavyweight showdown and will not fight him in November.

In a video posted on Instagram, Fury made the claim in typically provocative terms, saying Joshua had “crapped his pants once again.” He then turned his attention to Oleksandr Usyk, the Ukrainian former heavyweight world champion who is now Joshua’s trainer.

Fury told Usyk that Joshua was mentally weak and would never have fought the “Gypsy King,” although Usyk had faced Fury twice. Fury lost both of those bouts to Usyk. He challenged Usyk to meet him again in November, asking whether he would fight this year or had stopped boxing.

Fury and Joshua had been contractually committed to the fight, but disagreements later arose over the venue. Madison Square Garden in New York and Wembley Stadium in London had both been discussed. Neither Joshua nor Usyk had commented on Fury’s remarks by Monday afternoon.
