U.S. Envoy Impressed by Venezuela's El Sistema Music Program

John Barrett, the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires in Venezuela, recently visited the headquarters of El Sistema, the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs, expressing his profound admiration for the organization's impact.

Barrett described El Sistema as a "world-class Venezuelan institution" that significantly improves the lives of more than a million young people across the country. He highlighted the organization's role in human development, stating, "Fostering human development is key to recovering the economy and moving forward."

During his visit, Barrett experienced firsthand the musical talent of Venezuelan youth, viewing installations, meeting staff, and enjoying performances by the young musicians. The visit, which also included Vice-Chancellor for Europe and North America Oliver Blanco, marks a significant public engagement in cultural and social areas. Barrett's visit follows his arrival in Venezuela in April, signaling a new phase in diplomatic relations aimed at implementing U.S. strategies for the country's restructuring.
