U.S. military missile strikes Iranian wedding, killing four and injuring more than 50

A U.S. missile struck a private home where a wedding was taking place in southern Iran, killing four people, including a child, and injuring more than 50, according to the Iranian Red Crescent.

The missile fragments hit the house in Kuhestak, in Hormozgan province, as the United States resumed airstrikes against Iran. The injured were taken to Minab Hospital and other nearby medical facilities. Some remained in critical condition, Hormozgan deputy governor Ahmad Nafisi told Iran’s IRNA news agency, warning that the death toll could increase.

IRNA also reported that four projectiles landed in several locations in Chabahar and Konarak. It did not say whether civilians were hurt there.

The U.S. military said its strikes targeted Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. U.S. Central Command said on X that the operation followed recent attempts by the Revolutionary Guard to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. service members in the region. Asked whether the military had received reports of civilian casualties, Central Command spokesman Tim Hawkins said, “Unlike Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, the U.S. military never targets civilians.”
