UAE and Seven Other Nations Condemn Israeli Ministers’ Statements on Displacing Palestinians in Gaza

The United Arab Emirates and seven other countries have jointly condemned statements by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Defence Minister Israel Katz concerning the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

The foreign ministers of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye and Egypt said the ministers’ remarks included proposals for plans and mechanisms to forcibly remove Palestinians from their land. They described the statements and proposals as inflammatory.

The ministers said such measures would flagrantly violate international law, including international humanitarian law, and directly threaten the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. They reaffirmed their unequivocal rejection of attempts or plans to displace Palestinians, whether within or outside the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

They also warned of grave consequences if calls for forced displacement develop into declared policy or concrete action.
