UAE, Egypt announce US$500 million 5-year wheat supply agreement

The United Arab Emirates and Egypt have officially launched a five-year wheat supply agreement valued at up to US$500 million, marking a significant step in their agricultural partnership. The agreement was signed between Al Dahra Agriculture Trading (ADAT), part of Al Dahra Holding, and Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC).

This signing ceremony, held at the Cabinet of Ministers Headquarters in El Alamein, formalizes the operational framework for wheat supply to GASC. It builds upon a strategic partnership established in 2023 and is supported by financing from the Abu Dhabi Exports Office (ADEX). ADEX reaffirmed its commitment to using innovative financing solutions to facilitate trade and bolster economic ties.

Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Chief Corporate Affairs and Interim Chief People Officer at Al Dahra, highlighted the agreement's importance for long-term resilience and securing essential food commodities. Al Dahra, with extensive experience serving over 40 markets and a presence in Egypt since 2007, brings farming, production, processing, and supply chain capabilities to ensure dependable access to food products.

The deal underscores the deepening agricultural cooperation between the UAE and Egypt. It exemplifies how targeted financing can foster enduring economic partnerships and strengthen bilateral trade relations, supporting UAE exports and expanding their global market presence.
