Uber Expands Ride-Hailing Services to Hualien, Taitung, and Yunlin in Taiwan

Uber has officially expanded its ride-hailing services to Taiwan's Hualien, Taitung, and Yunlin counties, marking a significant milestone as its app can now be used to hail rides in all of the island's administrative regions. This expansion caters to the increasing demand for travel, homecoming, and diverse mobility needs during the summer vacation period.

The company noted a substantial 21% year-on-year increase in ride-hailing trips during July and August compared to the previous summer. Growth has notably accelerated in areas beyond the six major metropolitan centers, with Yilan seeing a 25.2% rise and Nantou a 21.1% increase. Additionally, demand for larger vehicles like the "Uber XL" (six-seater) and "Uber Taxi" has grown, with trips increasing by 10% and 21.6% respectively.

Uber is also enhancing its premium offerings, with the "Uber Black" service slated for expansion in the third quarter. It will extend from its current service areas of Taipei, New Taipei, and Taoyuan to include Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung, covering eight major cities. This move aims to provide more high-end transportation options for business travelers, international tourists, airport transfers, and leisure trips.

To celebrate the nationwide launch, Uber is offering promotional discounts in the newly added regions. Users can enter the code "雲花東有優黃" for a NT$200 discount on a ride in designated areas, and "雲花東優快送" for a NT$300 discount on "Uber Flash" parcel delivery. Uber Eats is also providing a 50% discount in Hualien, Taitung, and Yunlin with the code "慶祝吃五折."
