Uber introduces audio recording for enhanced user safety in Croatia

Uber has introduced a new safety feature in Croatia that allows users to record audio during their rides. The "Audio Recording" option, available since June 3, aims to provide users with an increased sense of security and a faster way to access support.

Users can activate the feature within the Uber app, and recordings are not automatic. The audio is encrypted and stored locally on the user's device. Uber can only access these recordings if they are submitted as part of a safety incident report. Recordings not linked to a report are automatically deleted after 14 days.

Drivers will be notified if the option is enabled before a ride and can cancel without penalty. Uber stated that this feature is part of a broader effort to strengthen safety mechanisms on its platform, offering an additional reporting channel within the app. The company highlighted that the tool was developed with strong privacy standards, giving users greater control and assisting in safety investigations.
