UEFA decides how to punish Hajduk: White's fans can be very satisfied

UEFA has decided to fine Croatian football club Hajduk Split 24,000 euros following fan misconduct during a Europa League qualifying match. The decision comes after Hajduk's supporters threw objects, including cups and chairs, onto the field during the second half of their game against Zilina, causing a short interruption.

Despite the fine, the most significant aspect for Hajduk is that their fans will be permitted to travel to Cyprus for the return leg against Pafos next Thursday. This outcome is particularly welcome as the club was under a two-year conditional ban for similar incidents involving fans at previous away games against Torshavn and Ružomberok. A repeat offense could have resulted in a home match being played without fans.

Hajduk Split secured a 2-0 victory in the first leg at their home stadium, Poljud, with goals from Šego and Melnjak. This win gives them a strong advantage heading into the second leg and a good chance to advance to the third round of the qualifiers. The club can consider themselves fortunate that the UEFA decision allows for fan support in the crucial upcoming away fixture.
