UEFA threatens FIFA with legal action over controversial commercial plan

UEFA has officially informed FIFA that it is actively considering legal action against the organization's controversial plan to establish a new commercial subsidiary, FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE). The European football governing body communicated its concerns in a letter addressed to FIFA President Gianni Infantino on July 31.

The FFE plan, which aims to open FIFA's commercial operations to private investment, has drawn significant opposition from UEFA. The organization is demanding that FIFA immediately preserve all physical and electronic documentation pertaining to the FFE initiative. UEFA has warned of potential consequences should any related documents be destroyed.

While FIFA reportedly abandoned the FFE plan on July 28 due to widespread rejection, UEFA's letter suggests the matter is far from settled. The European body is contemplating reporting the initiative to regulatory authorities or initiating arbitration proceedings over the project.
