UK Deploys Rapid Response Team to Nepal Amid Devastating Floods

The United Kingdom has dispatched a Rapid Deployment Team to Nepal to provide crucial support to British nationals and their families impacted by severe floods along the Nepal-China border. The devastating flash floods occurred on August 26, 2026, following a sudden surge in the Bhote Koshi River in the mountainous Rasuwa district.

The team will arrive in Kathmandu tomorrow and will work alongside British Embassy staff and local authorities to provide additional consular support as part of response efforts.

Nepalese authorities have reported extensive destruction to homes, roads, bridges, and hydropower facilities due to the flooding. In response, the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) announced that specially trained crisis response staff would arrive in Kathmandu to bolster consular operations and coordinate assistance with local authorities.

The FCDO stated that the team would work with British Embassy staff and local emergency responders to offer additional consular support.
