UK foreign secretary to visit China, India

British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper is set to embark on diplomatic visits to China and India this week, aiming to address a range of pressing global issues.

Her itinerary includes discussions on the Strait of Hormuz, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and the recent Ebola outbreak. These topics highlight the UK's engagement with major international challenges and its efforts to foster dialogue with key global players.

In China, Cooper is scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Vice President Han Zheng on June 2. This meeting follows a recent engagement between Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, which underscored a mutual interest in expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and technology. The following day, Cooper is expected to visit Shenzhen, a prominent tech hub, for a program focused on science and technology.

Cooper's visit to India, commencing on June 4, will involve meetings with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Additionally, she is slated to interact with entrepreneurs, academics, and government partners involved in the UK-India Vision 2035 initiative, signaling a commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and collaborative projects.
