UK opens applications for 2026 Chevening Scholarships

The United Kingdom Government has officially opened applications for the prestigious 2026 Chevening Scholarship program. This initiative provides a unique opportunity for professionals from Nigeria and over 140 other countries to pursue a fully funded one-year master’s degree at leading universities across the UK.

The application window runs from August 4 to October 6, 2026. The scholarship is specifically designed for individuals who have demonstrated strong leadership potential and a clear commitment to driving positive change within their communities and home countries. The program is funded by the UK Government and its partners, covering essential costs such as tuition fees, living expenses, and travel.

Established in 1983, the Chevening Scholarship is the UK Government's flagship international scholarship scheme. To date, more than 60,000 individuals have benefited from the program, with many alumni progressing to hold significant leadership positions in government, business, academia, and civil society worldwide.

Successful applicants will receive comprehensive financial support, including full tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, return economy airfare to the UK, and allowances for arrival and departure. Additionally, scholars gain access to exclusive networking events and become part of a global alumni network. The UK Government actively encourages applications from under-represented groups, underscoring its commitment to diversity and inclusion within the program.
