Ukraine attacks Russian oil terminal in Rostov; casualties reported in mutual assaults

Ukraine launched an air attack on the southern Russian city of Rostov, killing two people and injuring five, according to the regional governor. Drone debris caused fires in several locations, including warehouses, while oil export terminals in Rostov and other regions were also hit. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the attacks aim to reduce Russia's ability to fund the war, leading to fuel shortages.

Russia reported that its military struck two ships in the southern Ukrainian port city of Mykolaiv, claiming the vessels carried military goods. Both Ukraine and Russia have intensified attacks in and around the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov in recent weeks, targeting numerous vessels including oil tankers and freighters.

The Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil facilities are part of a strategy to weaken a key revenue source for Moscow's war effort. This has also led to fuel shortages within Russia. The attacks come amid ongoing mutual assaults between the two nations, with civilian casualties reported on both sides.
