Ukraine drone attack kills 7 at Russian resort, Moscow claims

Russia claims a Ukrainian drone attack deliberately targeted civilians at the Black Sea holiday resort of Gelendzhik, resulting in seven deaths, including three children, and approximately 40 injuries. Verified social media footage depicts what seems to be a drone impacting a crowded beach, followed by a significant explosion. The location was confirmed by Reuters to be near Gelendzhik, a popular summer destination for Russian tourists.

In retaliation for Moscow's ongoing drone and missile assaults on Ukrainian cities, Ukraine frequently launches hundreds of drones into Russia. Governor Venyamin Kondratyev of the Krasnodar region stated on social media that the death toll in the village of Arkhipo-Osipovka had risen to six, with three of them being children. This followed an earlier announcement of a Ukrainian drone strike in the area.

Images posted by Ganzha showed firefighters battling flames and the charred remains of a car.

In a separate development, Russian anti-war politician Boris Nadezhdin announced his departure from Russia, posting a video from Paris. Nadezhdin, who had openly criticized President Vladimir Putin and the Ukraine offensive, was recently detained and barred from running for parliament. He had faced pressure, including being labeled a "foreign agent" and fined, which led him to withdraw from the September parliamentary election campaign.
