Ukraine drones hit Russian logistics hubs, oil refinery; casualties reported

Ukraine struck two large logistics centers and an oil refinery within Russia using drones on Saturday, according to reports. The Russian online retailer Wildberries confirmed its centers in Kotovsk, Tambov region, and Elektrostal, Moscow region, were targeted.

The attacks resulted in significant casualties. At the Kotovsk logistics center, seven employees working the night shift died, and 24 people were injured. In Elektrostal, one person was killed, and 37 were wounded. The Moscow region reported repelling over 370 drones overnight, though the exact number that reached their targets remains unclear.

Fires broke out at both facilities following the strikes. The blaze at the Tambov center was reportedly brought under control quickly, while firefighting efforts continued in Elektrostal on Saturday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the attacks via the social media platform X, stating that the targeted centers were used to supply components subject to sanctions, as well as navigation equipment, for drones.

In Finland, the Defence Forces temporarily restricted air and maritime traffic in the eastern Gulf of Finland for several hours on Saturday morning. These restrictions were linked to Ukraine's drone attacks on Russia, according to information provided to Helsingin Sanomat.
