Ukraine reports Russian air attack with eight missiles and 136 drones

Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with a barrage of eight missiles and 136 drones, according to Ukraine's Air Force. The Ukrainian military reported that its air defenses managed to destroy or suppress one Kh-59/69 cruise missile, five Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, and more than 100 Shahed drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles.

Despite these interceptions, two ballistic missiles and 27 attack drones reportedly struck 18 different locations across the country. Fragments from seven other sites also fell. In Kyiv, at least one ballistic missile hit the capital, damaging infrastructure in the Desnianski, Shevchenkivski, and Solomianski districts. Three civilians, one woman and two men, were injured in the Solomianski district, with one requiring hospitalization, according to police and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

In Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, a drone strike hit a residential building, killing one person and injuring three others, reported the city's mayor, Ihor Terekhov. The specific types of drones used in the attack included Shahed (some with propulsion), Gerbera, Italmas, and Parody models. The missiles were launched from the Bryansk, Kursk, and Voronezh regions of Russia, while the Kh-59/69 cruise missile was fired from the Black Sea airspace.
