Syrskyi, who assumed command of Ukraine's armed forces in February, has led some of the country's most challenging military operations. However, his tenure has been marked by significant controversy and criticism regarding troop losses and his command style.

Oktysiuk also claims Syrskyi has implemented a system that suppresses initiative, favoring a select group of loyal generals. The former defense minister, who was dismissed by Zelenskyy, stated that all progressive steps related to the army have been halted, citing issues with new technology and troop mobility under Syrskyi's command.
