Ukraine Strikes Ozon Warehouses in Russia

Ukraine conducted overnight drone strikes targeting warehouses of Ozon, Russia's second-largest online retailer, escalating recent attacks on the company's logistics infrastructure. The assaults resulted in fires at Ozon's logistics center in Krasnodar, southern Russia, and another warehouse near Makhachkala in Dagestan.

In Krasnodar, an air raid alert was issued around midnight, and parts of downed drones reportedly fell near a children's care center, leading to two child fatalities and at least seven injuries. Ozon confirmed the fire at its Krasnodar facility, stating that preliminary information indicated no injuries among its staff. The company also temporarily closed two other warehouses in Stavropol and Adygea regions as a precaution against further drone threats, though these facilities reportedly sustained no damage.

These strikes are part of a broader campaign by Ukraine against Ozon and its main competitor, Wildberries. Ukraine has previously justified such attacks by alleging that these e-commerce platforms supply drone components and equipment to the Russian military. Russia has denied these claims, condemning the strikes as targeting civilian infrastructure. However, reports indicate that both marketplaces actively sell dual-use products, including drones and body armor.

The recent attacks mark the third consecutive night of strikes on Ozon's facilities. On Sunday, a fire erupted at a logistics center in the Orenburg region, prompting the evacuation of over 300 people and temporary closure of the site. A strike on a center in Samara on Saturday reportedly injured workers. The Ukrainian military announced a campaign against Ozon after previously targeting fifteen major Wildberries logistics centers, which reportedly caused billions of euros in financial losses.
