Ukraine strikes Russian territory, hitting brigade linked to Bucha massacre

Ukrainian forces intensified attacks deep behind Russian lines, employing drones to disrupt military infrastructure and logistics. A coordinated operation on Tuesday night struck multiple military targets in occupied eastern and southern Ukraine. Notably, one of the units hit was the 64th Motorized Brigade, which has been linked to alleged war crimes in Bucha in 2022. Preliminary reports suggest at least nine members of the brigade were killed, nine wounded, and 13 missing following the strike.

Robert Brovdiy, commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, known by the call sign 'Magyar,' confirmed the strikes targeted training grounds and military sites used by Russia's 3rd and 36th armies. The Ukrainian side claims 21 successful hits across various locations. Bucha became a symbol of civilian suffering after its liberation in spring 2022, with over 1,400 civilians, including 37 children, killed in the district.

Beyond military objectives, Ukrainian forces also targeted facilities related to Russia's energy infrastructure. Kyiv reported strikes on a refinery in the Saratov region, fuel storage sites, and oil and gas industry facilities in Russia and occupied Ukrainian territories. These attacks are described by Ukrainian authorities as part of a wider strategy to degrade Russia's war-making capabilities and economic resilience.
