Ukraine: Two dead, eight wounded in attacks

Two people were killed and eight others injured in Russian attacks across Ukraine on Friday morning, Ukrainian authorities reported. The assaults continued a pattern of strikes targeting civilian areas.

In the Sumy region, which borders Russia, a Russian drone strike hit a residential building, resulting in two fatalities and one injury, according to Oleh Hryhorov, head of the region's military administration.

Meanwhile, in President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's hometown of Kryvyi Rih, seven people were wounded when a Russian rocket struck a densely populated area. This attack followed a significant escalation in the capital, Kyiv, where Friday was declared a day of mourning. At least 27 people were killed and 91 injured in Russian drone and missile attacks on Kyiv the previous night, described by Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko as the largest assault on the capital to date in the war.
