Ukraine warns Russia of new mobilization, potential 'one-way ticket' for 500,000

Ukraine's ambassador to the United Nations issued a stark warning to Russia, suggesting President Vladimir Putin is preparing for a new wave of mobilization.

During a UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine's Independence Day, Ambassador Andrij Melnyk invoked the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – Conquest, War, Famine, and Death – stating they would consume not only those who unleashed them but also the entire system they built. He directly addressed Russian citizens in Russian, cautioning them that Putin likely plans to announce another mobilization after the State Duma elections scheduled for September 20.

Melnyk claimed Russia could send up to 500,000 people to war with a "one-way ticket." He urged Russians to leave the country as soon as possible, adding with irony that fuel might be scarce for their departure, alluding to Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously stated that a new mobilization wave, possibly starting after the Duma "elections," would be concentrated in the regions. He estimated Russia intended to mobilize an additional 300,000 people this year. Earlier, Zelenskyy suggested Putin was seeking ways to conduct a secret mobilization without public announcement and that the Kremlin was trying to involve North Korea in the war.
