Ukrainian couple attacked in Poland; mother blames accent

Wroclaw police are investigating a violent assault on a Ukrainian couple that occurred in the Zakrzów district. The incident began when the couple was reportedly pushed aside in a store queue, leading to a verbal dispute.

Local media reports indicate that following the disagreement in the store, the assailants pursued the couple as they were about to enter their car outside the shop. Video footage captured the attack, showing two men initially confronting the couple, with a third man joining in. The male victim was knocked to the ground, and the female victim sustained multiple blows to the head.

The mother of the attacked woman shared details of the incident on social media, stating that her daughter and her boyfriend suffered severe injuries, including a head wound requiring stitches for her daughter and suspected concussions for both. She believes the attack was racially motivated, stemming from the couple's Ukrainian accent. She appealed for help in disseminating the information to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

This attack is the latest in a series of incidents targeting Ukrainians in Poland. Polish police recently announced increased efforts to combat hate crimes directed at Ukrainian nationals, underscoring growing concerns about xenophobia and violence against the Ukrainian community in the country.
