Ukrainian national detained in Zadar for severe assault and attempted assault with a bottle

A 30-year-old Ukrainian national is facing serious charges in Zadar, Croatia, after allegedly assaulting two men in separate incidents. The man has been placed in one month of pre-trial detention by an investigative judge at the County Court in Zadar, citing the risk of flight and the potential for reoffending.

The suspect is accused of inflicting severe injuries on one man on July 18, reportedly striking him multiple times on the head. Just eleven days later, on July 29, he is alleged to have attacked a second man with a glass bottle outside a nightclub in Zadar. This second incident occurred after a brawl involving the suspect, and the man he allegedly attacked with the bottle was reportedly trying to separate the suspect from his opponent in the fight.

Following his interrogation at the Zadar State Attorney's Office, the 30-year-old was brought before the investigative judge. The court's decision to detain him underscores the severity of the alleged crimes and the authorities' concerns about his potential to abscond or commit further offenses.
