Diddy's prison stay shortened again, set for earlier release

American rapper and music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs may be released from federal prison a month earlier than previously anticipated. According to the latest records from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons, his projected release date is now set for January 24, 2028.

This adjustment follows several other changes to his release schedule since his sentencing in October 2025. Combs, 56, is serving a 50-month sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey after being convicted on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution. He was acquitted of more serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

His release date has fluctuated multiple times. Initially, it was projected for May 8, 2028, accounting for time served since his September 2024 arrest. Subsequent reports of alleged rule violations, such as consuming homemade alcohol and participating in unauthorized phone calls, led to further adjustments and temporary solitary confinement.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons has not provided specific reasons for the latest change, citing privacy and security concerns. The news of the revised date emerged shortly after media reports surfaced about an alleged physical altercation between Combs and another inmate at Fort Dix.
