ULBI Promotes Digital Literacy and Numeracy Evaluation in West Bandung Schools

Universitas Logistik dan Bisnis Internasional (ULBI) is spearheading a digital transformation in basic education evaluation with its SIPENA system at Sekolah Alam Qur’an (SAQ) Nur Madani in West Bandung.

This initiative, part of ULBI's community service program, focuses on "Digitalization of Student Literacy and Numeracy Evaluation as an Effort to Improve the Quality of Basic Education Based on Information Technology." The project team, led by ULBI lecturers Supono, Suci Fika Widyana, and Roni Andarsyah, along with student assistants, aims to modernize how literacy and numeracy are assessed.

The program addresses the limitations of SAQ Nurmadani's current manual evaluation methods. These include lengthy data recapitulation from paper records, inconsistent assessment indicators among teachers, and difficulties in continuously monitoring student development. Furthermore, parents have limited access to information about their children's progress in literacy and numeracy.

To tackle these issues, the ULBI team and school staff have developed more structured indicators for literacy and numeracy. The assessment tools now include observation notes, student strengths, challenges, and follow-up plans. This standardization is expected to help teachers conduct more consistent evaluations aligned with each student's progress.

The implementation phase included a SIPENA training session for teachers and the school principal on August 22, 2026. Participants learned to operate the application for managing digital evaluations, including user data, student information, and assessment indicators. Hands-on practice covered system entry, data management, inputting scores, tracking student progress, and generating reports, equipping educators to use the system effectively.
