Uleckas and Dimša Lead Leyma to Victory in Spain with a Three-Point Barrage

Lukas Uleckas and Tomas Dimša kept their preseason preparations in Spain sharp from long range, combining for 29 points and seven three-pointers as La Coruña’s Leyma reached the Galicia Cup final.

Leyma beat Ourense’s Baloncesto team 94-89 in Saturday’s semifinal. Ourense, which plays in Spain’s second division, led 24-13 after the opening quarter and held a 49-43 advantage at halftime.

Leyma changed the game after the break, winning the third quarter 27-14 and taking a 70-63 lead into the final 10 minutes. Uleckas led the winners with 19 points in 20 minutes, shooting 3 of 5 on two-point attempts, 4 of 7 from three-point range and 1 of 2 at the free-throw line. He also collected seven rebounds and made one assist.

Dimša played 16 minutes and scored 10 points, making 3 of 6 three-pointers and his only free throw. He added an assist and committed three turnovers. Together, the two Lithuanians converted seven of 13 attempts from beyond the arc.

Saturday also brought a win for Laurynas Birutis. His Casademont Zaragoza team edged La Laguna Tenerife 86-84 in a friendly. The Lithuania national team center contributed nine points, while no further individual statistics were provided.
