Umakhan Ibragimov wins back WOW FC lightweight title

British fighter Umakhan Ibragimov has reclaimed the WOW FC lightweight championship, avenging his previous loss to Brian Hooi with a decisive first-round knockout. The highly anticipated rematch took place at the Way of Warrior Fighting Championship (WOW FC) 31 event.

In their initial bout, Hooi emerged victorious in the third round, leaving Ibragimov unable to continue. The compelling nature of their first fight made a rematch almost inevitable, and the tension was palpable as both fighters entered the octagon. Hooi offered a defiant stare, while Ibragimov remained composed.

The fight began cautiously, with both athletes exchanging leg kicks. Hooi managed to land a significant cross that knocked Ibragimov down, but the British fighter showed resilience, getting back to his feet. Ibragimov later downplayed the knockdown, attributing it to a misstep rather than a serious blow.

Ultimately, Ibragimov secured his redemption with a powerful straight right to Hooi's face, followed by a ground-and-pound finish. Reflecting on his victory, Ibragimov stated, "When I lost the first fight and got home, I was a broken man, but my team brought me back. It has been a very tough road. After the first fight, I knew Hooi got lucky. In the last fight, I was the bull, but this time I was the matador." This win brings Ibragimov's record to eleven victories and two defeats.

Following the fight, interim champion Zé Machado of Portugal entered the octagon for an impromptu face-off, setting the stage for a future title unification bout.
