UMNO Pahang open to cooperation with PAS, other parties if beneficial

UMNO Pahang is open to forming alliances with PAS and any other political parties, provided such cooperation serves the interests and benefits the people of the state. Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, who chairs UMNO's Pahang liaison body and serves as the state's Menteri Besar, clarified that this openness does not signify any ongoing negotiations with PAS.

We are open. Not only to PAS, but to any other party as well.

Wan Rosdy stated that the state government is consistently prepared to consider any form of political collaboration that prioritizes the welfare of Pahang's residents. He reiterated the party's openness, extending to all political entities, not just PAS. The remarks came during a press conference following a grant presentation ceremony.

His comments addressed speculation about potential cooperation between PAS and UMNO in Pahang, particularly in the lead-up to the 16th General Election. Wan Rosdy refuted claims that UMNO Pahang had rejected a partnership with PAS, urging those making such allegations to cite their sources. He stressed that his focus, and that of the state government, remains on fulfilling their duties and ensuring the well-being of the populace.

Ask him (Rosli) back, where did he get the source? I have never issued any statement.

Currently, the state government's priority is executing its responsibilities and ensuring the people's interests and welfare are paramount, rather than engaging in political debates. Wan Rosdy indicated that while the next general election is not imminent, it is not so distant that it should distract from current governance duties.

Because the focus now is that we are doing work for the people. Election time, although not too far away, is not too close either, so our focus is on work.
