UMNO to Send Representatives to Pas Annual Congress

UMNO will send representatives to the 72nd Pas Annual Congress, scheduled to commence on September 2. The confirmation came from UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in response to an invitation extended by Pas Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan last Wednesday.

"We will definitely send representatives to the congress," Ahmad Zahid told reporters in Kuala Lumpur. He was speaking after officiating the World Islamic Tourism and Trade Expo and the World Arts and Culture Festival at the World Trade Centre.

Previously, Takiyuddin had stated that Pas had invited Ahmad Zahid, who is also the UMNO President, along with three other party leaders to attend the Pas Annual Congress. "We are still waiting. We have invited the UMNO President himself and three other party leaders. It is up to them whether they want to attend or not," Takiyuddin was quoted as saying. He added that the invitation letters were sent three days prior, and there were still 10 days before the congress in Kelantan.
