UN experts: 'Genocide continues unabated' in Gaza, with 1,200 dead in 10 months

United Nations human rights experts have issued a stark denunciation, stating that "genocide continues without respite" in Gaza. Their joint statement reveals that over 1,200 Palestinians have died in the 10 months since a ceasefire was enacted in October 2025.

In July alone, Israeli forces reportedly killed approximately 160 Palestinians. The experts highlighted that many deaths in the past decade occurred in densely populated areas filled with displaced people, far from the "yellow line" from which Israel's army supposedly withdrew. They condemned the practice of issuing evacuation orders for entire residential blocks shortly before they are demolished by warplanes.

The experts further condemned attacks on hospitals and shelters, the killing of police officers and UN-contracted personnel, and assaults on fishermen. They also cited abuses by armed groups reportedly collaborating with the Israeli army. The statement emphasized that the free entry of food aid remains blocked, and commercially available products are nutritionally inadequate.

Francesca Albanese, the UN rapporteur for Palestine, co-signed the statement with 18 other UN experts. They warned that the continuous westward advance of the "yellow line," the construction of a 23-kilometer barrier along it, and the systematic demolition of residential buildings are forcibly displacing residents and reshaping Gaza's geography.
