UN probe: Israel continues genocide in Gaza

A UN independent investigation commission has found evidence suggesting Israeli security forces deliberately targeted and killed Palestinian children in Gaza. The commission stated that this deliberate targeting was a primary factor in establishing "genocidal intent" by Israeli authorities to destroy a significant portion of the Palestinian population.

This finding is part of a supplementary report released by the three-member investigative group, which previously concluded in September that Israel had committed "genocide" in the Gaza war. Israel has vehemently rejected this earlier conclusion, labeling the latest report as "defamatory" and a "smear campaign."

This was the main factor that allowed to establish the genocidal intentions of the Israeli authorities and security forces to destroy the vast majority of the Palestinian community.

Investigators asserted that Israel's military operations in Gaza have continued systematically and on a large scale, resulting in an "unprecedented" number of child deaths, injuries, and trauma. They stated there were "reasonable grounds" to conclude that Israeli authorities and security forces "continued to commit the crime of genocide" in Gaza.

Israel rejected this conclusion categorically.

Israel has accused the commission of ignoring Hamas's tactics, including the use of Palestinian children as human shields. The commission, established by the UN Human Rights Council in 2021, also examined the crimes experienced by Palestinian children and how living conditions in Gaza contribute to "preventable child mortality." The report, led by Indian judge Srinivasan Muralidhar, concluded that by targeting children, Israel is undermining the Palestinian people's ability to exist and determine their future.
