UNAM applicants plan new protest demanding exam results be honored

Students accepted into the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) are preparing for another protest just three days before the scheduled control exam. They are demanding that their admission results be respected and are rejecting the need for a new in-person evaluation.

Organized through social media and WhatsApp, the dissatisfied applicants plan to gather at noon in the Central Library parking lot. From there, they intend to march to the Rectorate Tower to voice their demands. "Tomorrow we are not just going to march. We are going to keep fighting for our Selected Applicant, for our effort, and for everything we did to get here," reads a statement from the organizers.

Protesters highlight the months of preparation, time, money, and effort they invested to secure a place at the university. "Many of us dedicated months of preparation, time, money, and effort to get a place, and it is worth doing everything in our power to defend it," they stated, urging fellow applicants to join and show their solidarity.

"Tomorrow we have the opportunity to show that we are not alone, that we are many, and that we are willing to defend our place. Let's not let all the effort we have made come to nothing," the call to action continued. However, previous demonstrations organized by this group have reportedly been unsuccessful, with a planned gathering last Thursday at the Rectorate Tower seeing no attendees.
