Undrafted Golden State Star Signs with Minnesota Timberwolves

Jonathan Kuminga, a 23-year-old forward, is set to join the Minnesota Timberwolves after signing a two-year deal worth $13 million. Kuminga chose Minnesota over other suitors including the Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Chicago Bulls.

Kuminga brings a championship pedigree to the Timberwolves, having been part of the Golden State Warriors team that won the NBA title in 2022. The Warriors originally drafted him as the seventh overall pick five years ago. His tenure with Golden State concluded at the beginning of this year, followed by a short period with the Atlanta Hawks.

His best season came in 2024-25, where he averaged 15.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game for the Warriors. Minnesota, a team that has reached the Western Conference finals twice in the past three seasons and the semifinals last year, will look to integrate Kuminga into their lineup. The Timberwolves recently made another significant move, acquiring LaMelo Ball from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Naz Reid.
