Uni-Lions announce Chen Yung-Chi's retirement series merchandise

Veteran player Chen Yung-Chi, 43, of the Uni-Lions, will retire at the end of the current season. The team held a retirement press conference today, unveiling commemorative visuals, ticketing information, and merchandise details.

Retirement series merchandise will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow afternoon. During his farewell events on September 19-20 at the Asia Pacific Main Stadium, the entire Uni-Lions team will wear special commemorative jerseys and caps featuring Chen's original name, Mayaw Ciru. This marks the first time a player in the Chinese Professional Baseball League has registered under their indigenous name.

Mayaw means to help others in the Amis language, hoping to not show oneself with strong sharpness, but to do things that can inspire people and gain courage.

Mayaw, meaning "to help others" in the Amis language, reflects Chen's aspiration to inspire and provide courage through his actions rather than overt displays of strength. The retirement visual design, "Yung Never Stops," incorporates Amis totems, honoring his indigenous heritage. The tagline "Malalikec," meaning "one family, united" in Amis proverbs, symbolizes Chen's leadership within the team and his legendary status among indigenous players.
