Universidad de Chile president dreams of Alexis Sánchez signing, player denies contact

Cecilia Pérez, president of Chilean club Universidad de Chile, has openly expressed her strong desire for star player Alexis Sánchez to join the team. However, she remains tight-lipped about any potential negotiations, emphasizing respect for player privacy.

"What a desire, what pleasure, and what a dream it would be for Alexis to come to our club. It would be wonderful," Pérez stated. She added that if a move were possible, the club would announce it, but acknowledged Sánchez's priority might be finding a competitive offer abroad. She also noted that if he eventually decided to return to Chile, the club would welcome him.

These comments come after speculation about the club's supposed approach to the forward. While the club's management had previously indicated that a move depended on Sánchez and his search for international offers, the player himself took to social media to deny any contact. "I have not had any contact with anyone. Leave me alone at home, relax. If I were to return to Chile, it would not be now," Sánchez posted.

Pérez has a history of publicly expressing her interest in Sánchez. Upon taking office, she stated, "Alexis Sánchez knows that, if he wants, la U will be his home," referencing the club's past signings of other "Golden Generation" players.
