Universidad de Chile targets Italian Serie B midfielder Reinhart

Universidad de Chile is reportedly nearing its second signing of the transfer window, with Argentine midfielder Tobías Reinhart of Italy's Reggiana close to joining the club. This comes shortly after a setback in their pursuit of Uruguayan defender Valentín Gauthier.

According to Argentine journalist César Luis Merlo, a specialist in the football transfer market, the Chilean club has reached an agreement to acquire Reinhart. The "Romántico Viajero" (Universidad de Chile's nickname) plans to invest in the player's transfer fee, securing him on a contract for two and a half years.

Merlo noted on social media platform X that the club's technical staff had been monitoring Reinhart for some time, and coach Gago approved the move. Reinhart was considered one of the best midfielders in Italy's Serie B last season and attracted interest from several clubs in the same division.

Reinhart began his career in the youth ranks of Temperley and had a loan spell at Spezia before arriving at Reggiana in 2024. Despite Reggiana's recent relegation to Serie C, Reinhart established himself as a regular starter, appearing in 34 matches and scoring three goals during the campaign.
