Universitas Indonesia President visits Taiwan to boost educational ties

Heri Hermansyah, the President of Universitas Indonesia, concluded a four-day visit to Taiwan aimed at strengthening educational ties between the two nations. During his June 24-27 trip, Hermansyah met with Taiwan's Deputy Minister of Education Liu Kuo-wei and visited top institutions including National Taiwan University, National Taipei University of Technology, and National Chengchi University's Graduate Institute of International Relations. The discussions focused on enhancing higher education collaboration, nurturing talent, and fostering academic exchange. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted that Universitas Indonesia is a leading Indonesian institution, influential in shaping government officials, academic leaders, and industry professionals. The visit also included exploring Taiwan's advancements in smart healthcare, its democratic resilience against disinformation, and its efforts in migrant worker education. Taiwan views deepening higher education cooperation with Indonesia, its second-largest source of international students, as key to expanding youth exchanges and jointly cultivating high-level talent for regional sustainable development.

Heri Hermansyah actively promotes Taiwan-Indonesia educational cooperation and facilitated the signing of a cooperation agreement between Universitas Indonesia and the Ministry of Education's 'International Talent Circulation Base Taiwan-Indonesia,' establishing an 'INTENSE Hub' at the vocational college to create an important talent cultivation base for Taiwan in Indonesia.
