University of Science opens direct admission applications June 1

The University of Science, part of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, announced its direct admission and priority admission process for the 2026 academic year. The university will open its application portal on June 1st, dedicating between 5% and 10% of its total enrollment quota to these admission methods.

This year, popular majors such as Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Semiconductor Technology, and Integrated Circuit Design will continue to enroll students with significant quotas. Eligibility for direct admission includes national and international award winners in academic competitions, heroes of labor, and individuals from ethnic minority groups who meet academic requirements and complete a preparatory year.

Priority admission is available for students who received honorable mentions in national academic contests or fourth-place awards in national science and technology competitions. These candidates must maintain an average math score of 8.0 or higher in grades 10, 11, and 12. For the 2026 high school graduates applying through the national high school exam, the university requires a minimum combined score of 15/30 or a minimum of 15 points in Math, Literature, and one other subject within their chosen combination.

Notably, the university has introduced specific criteria for specialized programs. Applicants for Semiconductor Technology and Integrated Circuit Design must rank within the top 20% nationally for their average high school math scores. Nuclear Engineering applicants need a minimum Math and Physics score of 7.5 if applying with academic records or exam scores, or a minimum score of 225 in the Math component of the VNU-HCM competency assessment test.

Students can register for up to 15 preferences through this admission method. The online application period runs from June 1st to June 20th, with results expected by June 26th. All admitted students, including those admitted directly, must still register their aspirations on the Ministry of Education and Training's common admission system for official enrollment.
